Stop wasting the world's time, Ukraine tells Putin after US talks in Moscow
Ukraine has issued a sharp rebuke to Russian President Vladimir Putin following high-level talks in Moscow involving US representatives that failed to produce any concrete steps toward ending the war. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha accused Russia of deliberately prolonging negotiations without genuine intent to reach a resolution.
Speaking after the discussions, Sybiha said Russia was “wasting the world’s time” by engaging in diplomacy while continuing military operations. He stressed that Ukraine and its partners are seeking meaningful actions, not symbolic meetings, to bring an end to the conflict.
The talks were viewed as a significant diplomatic effort, with hopes that US involvement might help bridge gaps between the two sides. However, officials indicated that no tangible agreements were reached, reinforcing skepticism in Kyiv about Moscow’s willingness to compromise.
Ukrainian leaders argue that Russia continues to use negotiations as a tactic to delay pressure and maintain its strategic position on the battlefield. They have called on the international community to remain firm in its support for Ukraine and to judge Russia by its actions rather than statements.
The stalled talks underline the deep divisions that remain between Moscow and Kyiv, highlighting the challenges facing any future peace efforts. As the war grinds on, diplomatic frustration is growing, with Ukraine urging stronger international resolve to push for a genuine and lasting settlement.
